What is HPHP?
HPHP is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, founded in August 2004, located in Huntsville, Texas. We are affiliated with the following organizations:
The Delta Society, an international animal-assisted activity/therapy and service dog organization; www.deltasociety.org
InterMountain Therapy Animals (ITA), a non-profit organization bringing animal resources to human needs. www.therapyanimals.org
Reading Education Assistance Dogs or R.E.A.D.® The mission of the R.E.A.D.® program is to improve the literacy skills of children through the assistance of registered therapy teams as literacy mentors. www.therapyanimals.org
Our therapy teams are registered through both the Delta Society and ITA. All teams have met or surpassed the minimum qualifications before being placed in the field. Our volunteer teams help promote well being and improve communication among individuals in schools, health and long-term care facilities.
HPHP has several members participating in the R.E.A.D.® program at one of the local Elementary Schools.
HPHP also provides an AKC "Safety Around Dogs Program" designed for K-6 grades. The program demonstrates how children can be safe around their own dogs, a stranger's dogs or a group of loose dogs.
